Bukit Bintang in Malaysia
Bukit Bintang is a district in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It starts with Jalan Bukit Bintang. It is also known as the shopping and entertainment district of Kuala Lumpur. Jalan Sultan Ismail and Imbi road at the south border Bukit Bintang. Yeoh Tiong Lay branded the area as Bintang Walk in 1980s. Lay had started retail developments here with YTL Corporation and thus named the place. There is a part of Bintang Walk which is also known as “Arab Street”. Jalan Tong Shin situated here witnessed the race riots on 13th May. Annual Malaysian Grand Prix is held here. Besides that Guinness St. Patrick’s Day celebrations are organized here as well. Two major fashion events are held here annually. STYLO fashion week and M-IFW are those two events.
Climate:
Malaysia has a tropical climate. Hence, most of the places remain hot and sunny throughout the year in Malaysia. Bukit Bintang is no exception to this. For most months of the year the temperatures remain high during daytimes. But it drops during night. The temperature during daytimes in Bukit Bintang mostly ranges from 32-35 degree Celsius. The relative humidity remains between 75-80 percent. The night cools things down a bit. The temperature drops by at least 8-10 degree Celsius. Mostly it is around 22-25 degree Celsius. The wind is not that strong. Wind speed is around 6kph. Generally fogs are not experienced here.
Major Tourist Attraction:
Bukit Bintang is famous for its very attractive shopping malls. A mall like Berjaya Times Square is present here. Cosmo’s world indoor theme park is also present there between level 5 and level 7. It consists of children rides. There are thrill rides as well in this indoor theme park. 3D-Imax Theater is also present there. Supersonic odyssey, an inverted roller coaster is also present there. Berjaya Times Square is basically a middle-class shopping mall and it targets the younger generation. That’s not all; Starhill Gallery is another mall present here. It is a very luxurious mall. Fashion houses like Gucci, Fendi and Valentino can be found here as well. There are many other malls here as well. Pavilion KL which was built in 2007 is another mall which targets middle-upper class of the society. Fahrenheit 88, Lot10, BB Plaza, Imbi Plaza, Low Yat Plaza, Sungei Wang Plaza are some other malls. These malls are very famous and remain places for tourists. Not just malls but there are several other places of attraction in Bukit Bintang. Chulhan Square houses several food restaurants like Nawab Authentic Moghul Restaurant, Gaucho Grill, Kampung Laksa and few other as well. Kampung Laksa is a Malay restaurant whereas the other two mentioned here are North Indian and Argentinean respectively. Hutong is referred to as Malaysia’s first gourmet heritage village. It is situated in Lot10. Jalan Alor is used by street hawkers. They mainly sell local Chinese cuisines on this street. Moreover, this district is also famous for spa and foot reflexology. Bukit Bintang also has hotels for budget class people. Hotels like Agora, Sky, Hotel Nova, and Fortuna are budget class hotels. The budget class hotels are also well facilitated.
Transport & how to reach the place:
An entrance which was built to address flash flood problems is located here. Bukit Bintang can be accessed through monorail. The monorail of Bukit Bintang is located at the intersection of Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan Bukit Bintang. This monorail is also known as Kuala Lumpur Monorail. MRT which stands for Mass Rapid Transit is an upcoming project. It has been given one station for Bintang Walk. This designation has been done under the already finalized Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line. Previously it was proposed to have two separate stations for this place. But later it was decided to have one station. The operations are going to begin on MRT from January 2016. Initially it was decide to have LRT, Light Rail Transit which would have covered most populated areas. But the government decided to extend the rail to Sungai Buloh and Kajang. So this is how one can easily travel to this place.

Bukit Bintang is a terrific place. It is indeed a shopping and entertainment district of Kuala Lumpur. It has got some of the top hotels and resorts. There are several places of entertainment over here like indoor theme park. Shopping malls are in abundance. Monorails are there for transport. Facilities are of extremely top quality in Bukit Bintang. Those who come to this place once would not like to go away. It is like a heaven on earth. It is a historical place and so many Chinese food stalls. Jalan Alor is the place to be for any lover of Chinese delicacies. Any local Chinese food can be found here.
